Dry Skin Treatment

Suffering cracked heels or sore hard patches of skin?

Here are a number of tips to help you relieve your poor peds.

Dry skin occurs where our feet try to protect themseves from what we, their careless owners throw at them, walking around bare foot, wearing shoes that rub, not drying our feet properly and giving ourselves blisters. Bear in mind though, your dry skin is there for a reason, if you attack it too harshly you will simply end up with very sore feet! Go gently.

There are a few simple things you can do that should help to relieve any discomfort and help you get prettier feet too!

If you decide to tackle very dry heels or patches on the balls of your feet, then do it over time, not all at once, better to decide to do it lightly once every two days and keep on top of it than to do it once a year and leave yourself in agony.

Get yourself a foot file and a good moisturiser, For injured or sore feet I prefer Herbfarmacy's Luxury Foot Cream, it is blended with infused Hypericum Oil which turns the cream pink! Use the foot file on dry feet, before bathing or showering, go lightly and don't try to take off every last bit of dry skin, the files are sharp and you can make your foot bleed!

Then have your usual shower or bath. This top tip comes from a friend of mine who practices reflexology and it has certainly helped me. If you are a showerer rather than a bather you may find plugging the hole in the bath or shower cubicle helps.

Dry your feet well and apply just enough foot cream, so you aren't too slippery.
Apply more cream at bed time, and repeat in 2 days time.

If you have very deep cracks in your heels you will need to do this gradually, but you will be able to see a real difference within a few days of regular care.
